You are driving in traffic with a safe following distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Suddenly, a driver traveling in next lane cuts in front of you so they can take the next exit. They were distracted talking on their cell phone, or maybe even texting. OMG, where’d that car come from? These are the times when we depend on our brakes to be in optimum condition.

Has your vehicle experienced any strange noises, or vibrations while stopping? Below are some noises and symptoms that may be caused by warn brakes.
SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK
Noises and symptoms of worn brakes
Have you ever noticed a high-pitched squeaking or squealing noise when you hit the brakes? It is often the result of a small metal shim called a wear indicator, which creates this sound when brake pads wear thin. If you hear this on a regular basis while driving have your brakes inspected immediately by one our trained technicians!
When brake pad material wears all the way down a grinding sound will now be present. If brakes reach this point more serious damage will occur since now the metal backing plate of the pads can contact the brake rotors. This will cause grooves in the surface of the rotors and could possibly overheat or damage brake calipers or other components. By listening closely to early warning signs from your brakes you’ll be able to save money by avoiding more costly repairs down the road!
VIBRATIONS AND WOBBLING
Symptoms of warped rotors
Vibrations or shimmies while braking can be the result of warped brake rotors. The vibration occurs when brake pads make contact with the uneven surface of the warped rotor. A warped brake rotor may be caused by heavy braking for extended periods of time. Friction created by brakes can generate high temperatures and can eventually cause rotors to warp. Sometimes it is possible to cut or resurface a warped rotor on a brake lathe so it can be reused, but often it is best to replace the affected rotor. A new rotor will dissipate heat more efficiently and be less likely to warp in the future compared to a thinner resurfaced one.
BRAKE FADE
Reduced responsiveness
If your brakes are not as responsive as normal or you find yourself pressing the brake pedal more in order to stop, this could be caused by a brake fluid leak. In this situation you might notice a small puddle of fluid under your vehicle when parked. A soft or spongy feeling brake pedal could also be the result of a master cylinder leaking internally. In this case it is possible brake fluid would not be present underneath your vehicle.
